Welcome to Say Yes Buffalo's Internship & Career Pathways Program

You’re in the right place to start your career!

Our program is designed specifically for rising college sophomores and up and our enrichment activities are for all college students. You do not have to attend a Say Yes Buffalo College to participate in our program. Eligible Say Yes scholars must meet the following criteria:

  1. Graduate of Buffalo public or charter high schools
  2. Live within the city limits at the time of high school graduation

We offer an array of exciting and valuable paid internship opportunities to help you gain practical experience and explore potential career pathways. Our internship opportunities are primarily offered in the summer. Here’s an overview of what you can expect. Please note that corporate internships may begin recruitment in the fall.

(If you are interested in internship recruitment for the fall, please contact Johanna Caplan, Internship and Career Pathways Program Supervisor at [email protected])

February — May

During this time scholars can expect and find available internships posted to this page. Scholars are advised to check the website regularly as positions can be posted at any time. Interested applicants should send their resume and cover letters to [email protected].

June

Once scholars have successfully landed an internship through us, we invite them to our Professional Skills Seminar. This program includes what interns need to know to be successful during their internship. We cover racial, equity and inclusion in the workforce, communication skills, and more. This jumpstart to the summer allows scholars to begin their internships on the right foot.

July & August

Throughout your internship, the Internship and Career Pathways program supervisor will be in contact with you for scholar check-ins. This allows us to learn about the awesome work you’ll be engaged in while providing individualized support to our scholars.

We offer Professional Development workshops curated by the Internship and Career Pathways Program Supervisor which helps to hone in on scholars’ talents while helping them to develop new skill sets

At the end of the summer program, we host a luncheon for all current scholar inters and employer partners who worked with our scholars during the summer. This appreciation luncheon serves as the perfect recap as we engage in scholar and employer presentations.

Are you ready to get started?

You can begin your internship search by exploring different options on our website. We encourage students to select opportunities that align with your interests and career goals.

Once you’ve identified the internship(s) you’re interested in, prepare your application materials. This typically includes a resume and a well-crafted cover letter. If you need assistance with your resume or any other aspect of your application, remember that our internship team is here to help. Reach out to Johanna Caplan, our Internship and Career Pathways Program Supervisor, who can provide valuable guidance and support.

Submit your application materials to [email protected] and we’ll contact you once we’ve received them.

Once your application has been received, our team will review it thoroughly. We consider various factors, such as your qualifications, interests, and the specific requirements of the internship you applied for. We will also review your resume for correctness and to ensure you’re putting your best foot forward. Once we are finished with the edits, our team will contact you with our suggestion edits. It’s important that we remain in contact with you to ensure that you receive and complete the edits, and send us your resume back. Once completed we will submit your application materials on your behalf to the employer.

If you are selected for an interview, please contact Johanna Caplan to ensure that we are able to best support you.

Throughout your internship, you will have access to ongoing supports and resources such as the professional skills seminar and professional development workshops.
